Friday Sept 14-
With our last day in Spain we decided to see the
popular spots. A quick metro ride brought us to the Arc de Triomph. Because it
was so early in the morning [around 9ish] hardly anyone was there. A nearby
school was on recess and we saw the children outside playing.
We
left and headed to the famous Guadi building 'Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada
Familia'. After walking around it we went back to the port.
Because
the metro stops at 2 on Fridays we caught one of the last one’s back up from the port to la Rambla. Getting hungry we went to La Bulgaria for some fresh tasties.
We found
a container of 9 fresh figs for 1.5 euro! Some grapes and a warm calazone
filled with tomato and cheese also caught our eye. We also purchased 2 cups of the popular fresh
squeezed juices one raspberry and the other coconut/pomegranate. We found a
bench outside of the market and ate our delicious spread.
We
meandered our way back up to the Somnio and got ready for our flight. We had a
fitful sleep as it was a Friday night. Everyone it seemed was out on the street
talking loudly. It really got cranked up around 3ish when all the bars closed
down. There was a group of people right below us that had taken a liking to the
street and had sat down talking and laughing. Being as we couldn’t sleep we
watched them from our window. People would walk by and then come back to join
the group of merry drunks.
A view from our room. |

Wow, it looks like such an amazing time! I hope you and Sarah had an unforgettable time. But judging from your photos, I'm pretty sure you did. ;) Your apartment looks so delightful! Makes me want to dive into Europe soon. Someday. :)
