On our way to town on Saturday, my mom and I picked up a nicely dressed hitch hiker. We ended up finding put that she was suppose to be off for the weekend but had to fill in for a absent co-worker. From the moment she got in the van I know she was not from here. Her accent was thick and I tried guessing where she was from. In the 15 minute ride we talked with her, she shared a condensed story of her beginnings.
Her parents were Jewish and were born in Israel. Her father was a rabbi and later they moved to Prague where she, Dagmar, was born. Her Hebrew name Dagmar means the same as Esther, morning star. When she was 13 years old her father was under watch due to his religious beliefs. Her parents were able to smuggle Dagmar out of the country and she arrived in London with 27pounds and not able to speak any English. She later moved to America and found her way to Hawaii most recently. Right before we dropped her off we told her that we were Christians and handed her a tract. She said "Well, I'm Jewish, is that alright?'' "Of course!" we said. She then wished us a Happy Easter and left.
Her question resonated in my head all day, "...is that alright?" and I realized that yes, not only am I alright with Jewish people, I am also very thankful for them. Where would we Gentile Christians be without the Jewish people? How could I not love the people that God chose? Jesus the Perfect Son of God was born thru the line of Jewish people to save the entire world from eternal damnation. I found this striking that we would meet her during the biggest world event, Passover and Jesus' payment for all sin. For truly nothing before or after will ever compare to the love shown on all humanity the day that He died for us.
As we joined other believers on Sunday to worship God I remembered Dagmar and all that Jewish people that have suffered. I was grateful and thankful for my life and how much I have been blessed.
He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

Beautiful post!! So well written......
Yes, a blessed people they are...yet they are satan's enemy, and as such have suffered much. Yet we would be lost without Christs love .
Wonderful thoughts....
Ellie, I hope and pray your little Jewish girl knows who the Messiah is; so many Jews do not believe in His Headship as the Savior. I went to the Seder Supper on Wed before Good Friday, it was very traditional and we like it every year. But on Good Friday we heard," it's Friday but Sunday is coming!" praise God He rose and is alive!!! love you Aunty Patty
