Truth or Fiction

Sometimes I don't realize how much a person affects my life until they are away for a spell. My sister has been on vacation since Friday and won't be back for a week. At first I didn't think I missed her much, but then I started observing my actions. Because of my sisters absence, I inadvertently do things that remind me of her. Such as, reading a mystery novel till 11:30pm. First, I'm not much of a reader. Second, I enjoy autobiography's more then fiction. And third, I'm just too practical to stay up that late just reading a book. Well, I didn't finish the book that night, but in the morning was able to accomplish that.
Another funny thing I've done is bake, bake sweets. Not that I can't cook or anything I just strong arm baked goods since they are my weakness. In our family Sarah is the one most likely to spend a morning baking some heavenly treat. Saturday morning I couldn't resist, so I baked gingerbread. I love this molasses-y bread more then the cookies most people first think of. Even the lack of an important ingredient did not deter me [normally it would have]. "No baking powder? Hummm....*google*..... Ahh! Cream of tarter and baking soda combo makes baking powder!" And with that I was back in action. The poor gingerbread didn't last a chance in the swooping down of our hungry mouths. Lickity split it was enjoyed to the fullest!
That night I again sat up til 10 reading another book, this time a long forgotten gift from my aunt, A Barrel of Laughs A Vale of Tears by Jules Feiffer. This time I managed to read the whole thing in one sitting. [I can't believe I downed 2 books over the course of 2 days. Yikes! I usually read a book a year.]

So this morning I stopped the pretending...........it's true.........I do miss her.

Aw, this is just too sweet! I know what you mean about missing a sibling. Brothers and sisters really do add warm and flavor to life.
Well, at least Sarah will be back soon. :)
