One of my favorite things to do is cross stitch. I have gotten in a rut making embroidered hand towels. I have designed several patterns over the past years and this is one of my newer ones.
The hardest part for me, in making one of these, is picking the colors. Several years ago my grandma gave us girls her supplies. There was a box with many rows of colorful threads. That box has been well used as it nicely keeps everything together and clean. In one glance you can view all the available colors to choose from. Because of it's constant use the hinges are broken, but that doesn't keep me from using it.
While putting away my supplies last night, my eye caught sight of a long forgotten project. My mind went back to when I purchased it, probably 8+ years ago, I was assured that I could complete it with much diligence. Well I'm not sure what it was that tried my patience but something finally got to me. I stopped for a time and let it lay unfinished. A spark flickered again when I looked it over. Could I possibly finish it after so many years? But the yellowed fabric and the missing thread quickly quenched my small hope. I think I need to keep to smaller more attainable projects, like hand towels.

Your Grandma did several cross stitch pieces for the lid on my candy jar. I cherish them more each month when I switch out the special one for that month Christmas, Thanksgiving etc. I always wondered how she did so much hand work with her twisted fingers. such love--- keep up the beautiful work. Our hand towel is displayed in the hall bathroom. love you Aunty Patty
