Alas...RWANDA

September 9:

A few mud and brick houses. These were in pretty good condition, plus they had a small plot of land behind the house to cultivate.

Some names of the victims at the Genocide Memorial in Kigali

On of the fourteen mass graves at the Kigali memorial. Each grave is about 8x12x4 ft. When remains are found, they're taken to a nearby memorial for burial. There were memorials and mass graves scattered thru out the towns we visited. It was a constant reminder to us of how life without Christ can be.

These are the typical security guards. Notice the guns??

These were taken the first day there.
Me and mom were so wiped out. We hadn't slept in 48hrs. and we were taken to the Genocide Museum in Kigali. If you've ever been to the Holocaust Museum in DC you know how draining it is. Well, we were falling asleep in the chairs. I'm surprised that I actually remember some of the stuff I saw and read. We skipped dinner that night and just went to bed. Later we found out that the dinner took 2 hrs. to get to the table!! Rwandan time, what can we say :)
